Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)
at AVM Skills Institute

Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)  involves students completing part of their coursework in actual commercial kitchens, such as hotels, clubs, or restaurants and Automotive workshops. This training allows students to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world scenarios, working under the supervision of experienced professionals.

Combining heory-based learning  and employer-guided practical-based learning (on-the-job and off the job), WIL allows students to find the most efficient and effective path to completing their qualifications. Most of the training and assessment in WIL is done in an actual workplace.

How is WIL different?

WIL is focused on the specific needs of individual students and not a one-shoe- fits-all classroom/group-based approach. Learning and assessment plans in WIL are created at an individual level in consultation with students and their employers. WIL considers the wide range of different backgrounds and experiences of students and applies this when developing individual learning and assessment strategies.

How is WIL delivered?

In simple words, WIL  means every time a student goes to work, they are learning, demonstrating competence and in the same process working towards completing their qualification. WIL assessment is conducted using numerous methods, including practical demonstration and observation, question-and-answer interviews, written tasks and supervisor reports.

The flexibility of  WIL allows students to structure and perform learning and assessment in a way that fits into their professional and personal lives.

At AVM Skills Institute, we are all set to deliver WIL  to our students in both Hospitality & Autmotive streams.
